De Bird is an outstanding place for your sailing holiday. The sailing school occupies a location that is unique for the Netherlands, on the Idzegaasterpoel with its own island, known as the Bird Island. There are also large pontoons for sailing instruction here. Due to its sheltered position, the wide uninterrupted views over the water and the absence of other vessels, this lake is a safe place to practise for beginners and groups with little experience of watersports.

Our sailing instructors are all CWO-certified. In addition, sailing school De Bird has a terrace located beautifully on the water.

Intern:

You can choose to stay internal in our accommodation or external. With the in-house stay you’ve access to a cozy room in the sailingschool, a made bed including breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is the way to build good relationship with your fellow students.

Extern:

By an external stay you will need a place for the night preferably near Heeg, such as a campsite or a cottage. The times of the sailing lessons are from 9.00 am till 17.15 pm and during the evening from 19.15 till 21.00 hours. It is also possible to have meals at De Bird.
